Founder's Story

Hey there, fellow scholars!

Joanna and alpacas

I'm Joanna, an IB student who studied at an IB school in Suzhou, China, and competed in two seasons of the World Scholar's Cup. If you've ever been to a WSC tournament, you know exactly what I'm talking about: we absolutely adore those fluffy alpacas.

But at the same time, we know the dread of being buried under mountains of study materials. You know that moment when your brain is trying to process quantum computing and medieval poetry simultaneously, and all you're left with is: "Who am I? Where am I? What am I even doing?"

To be honest, I was never one of those "medal magnet" legends who racks up trophies effortlessly. But through two seasons of competing, I discovered something I wanted to do even more than winning gold: I wanted to tame those materials and make WSC prep actually manageable. As an IB student, I know that "community service" isn't just about ticking a box—it's about solving real problems for the people around you.

With the full support of my advisor Ms. Tang and my dad (plus a serious boost from AI), I cobbled together a demo version in 2025. I took those dictionary-thick official guides, broke them down into bite-sized knowledge cards, and built a massive bank of practice questions. I let my school teammates test-drive it first.

The results blew my mind! In 2025, my teammates and I used this little tool to achieve our school's best-ever results at both the Regional and Global Rounds. That was the moment I realized: this works, and it deserves to be done properly.

In 2026, with technical support from Uncle Nong at Aiqi Software Company, I officially launched WSCMate. My goal is to help competitors across China prepare with more confidence. Whether you're cramming subject knowledge, brainstorming for Collaborative Writing, or strategizing for Team Debate, consider this your go-to supply station.
